DEPUTY FIRST CLASS RANK

The rank of Deputy First Class signifies a DG-3 grade of a non-supervisory position.  This position under general supervision: performs a wide variety of duties involved in the enforcement of laws and the prevention of crimes; controls traffic flow and enforces state traffic regulations; issues citations; participates in and conducts a variety of criminal investigations; makes arrests; provides support and assistance to special crime prevention and law enforcement programs; and performs a variety of technical, technological and tactical tasks in support of law enforcement services and activities.  Furthermore, this position is cross-functional as appropriate throughout the Sheriff's Office within the safety sensitive domain. This position is authorized to be assigned additional duties as required and as appropriate to enhance the capabilities of the Sheriff's Office.
