PROBATIONARY DEPUTY RANK

The rank of Probationary Deputy does not have an insignia which signifies a DG-1 grade of a non-supervisor position.  This position under direct Field Training Officer (FTO) supervision: performs a wide variety of duties involved in the enforcement of laws and the prevention of crimes; controls traffic flow and enforces state traffic regulations; issues citations; participates in and conducts a variety of criminal investigations; makes arrests; provides support and assistance to special crime prevention and law enforcement programs; and performs a variety of technical, technological and tactical tasks in support of law enforcement services and activities.  Furthermore, this position is cross-functional as appropriate throughout the Sheriff's Office within the safety sensitive domain.  This position is not authorized to be assigned additional duties.
