SERGEANT RANK

The rank of Sergeant signifies a DG-5 grade supervisor position.  This position under direction: plans, directs, supervises, assigns, reviews, and participates in the work of law enforcement as assigned to Staff Office and/or Division.  Serves as Senior First-Line supervisor on an assigned shift; oversees Junior First-Line supervisors and participates in all work activities; assumes responsibility for assigned special programs, projects, or Sheriff's Office wide functions or activities; coordinates activities with other agencies; and performs a variety of technical, technological and tactical tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility.  Furthermore, this position is cross-functional as appropriate throughout the Sheriff's Office within the safety sensitive domain.  This position is authorized to be assigned additional duties as required and as appropriate to enhance the capabilities of the Sheriff's Office.
